How To Enroll

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity that allows you to enroll or make changes in your health care benefits. Open Enrollment for the College is held in May.

If you do not want to elect benefits through the College's sponsored plan, you will still need to complete the Open Enrollment and select "Waive" for each offered benefit.

If you do not want to make any changes to your current medical, dental, vision, voluntary life, or HSA/HRA elections, you will still need to complete the Open Enrollment. Benefits will not auto-renew. Failure to complete the Open Enrollment can result in the loss of coverage for you and any dependents at the end of the current benefit period.

Instructions for Completing Open Enrollment

New Hires

Newly hired benefits-eligible employees must enroll in benefits within the first 2 weeks of their employment. Otherwise benefits may only be elected during the annual Open Enrollment period or due to a qualifying life status or work status event.

All newly hired full-time employees are eligible for benefits on their first day of employment. The effective date of coverage for a newly hired employee is the first of the month following full-time hire. Example, if you are hired on January 10th, your benefits coverage will start on February 1st. If benefit elections are made, or changed, after payroll has processed retroactive premiums will be deducted in the next payroll.

To complete your new hire enrollment, you must schedule an appointment with the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Department will be able to answer any questions you may have and assist you in enrolling into your desired coverage options. To schedule a time with the Human Resources Department, email HR@sscc.edu or visit the Human Resource office located at Central Campus (100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro, OH 45133).
